Jack Malcom Thorpe Fleming Churchill

Wed Jun 10, 2009, 7:36 PM
...was damn cool. He was born to English parents in Hong Kong, graduated from military academy and joined the army, but became frustrated with how boring things were, and so quit to play the bagpipes. When Great Britain became involved in World War Two, he signed right back up, and soon volunteered for the commandos, because, although he didn't know what a commando was, he'd heard it was more dangerous. He fought through World War Two with a longbow, arrows, and a claymore; he is particularly well known for having said that "any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed."
While training for the commandos, Jack was famous among his fellow trainees for praise when earned, scolding for sloth, playing his bagpipes at 3:00 AM, and making ad hoc speeches such as: “There’s nothing worse than sitting on your bum bottom doing nothing just because the enemy happens to leave you alone for a moment while he has a go at the unit on your flank. Pitch in and support your neighbor any way you can.… ”

At the end of his training, he was involved in Operation Archery in Norway:

He led two companies in Operation Archery, the raid on the German garrison at Vågsøy, Norway, on December 27, 1941. As the ramps fell on the first landing craft, Churchill leapt forward from his position playing The March of the Cameron Men on bagpipes, threw a grenade, and began running towards the bay.

He later led an assault on Hill 622--only he and six others reached the objective, and all but him were immediately incapacitated by a mortar shell. As the Germans approached, he is said to have played "Will Ye No Come Back Again?" on his bagpipes. He was then captured and sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, which he escaped from with a tin can and some onions, during a blackout. He was soon back in action, and was mightily disappointed when the Americans ended the war with Fat Man and Little Boy--he is reported to have said the the war could have continued for "ten more years" if the Americans hadn't intervened.

Even old age did not sober him:

He startled train conductors and passenger by throwing his attaché out of the train window each day on the ride home. Before he died in 1996, he explained that he was tossing his case into his own backyard so he wouldn’t have to carry it from the station. Seems perfectly reasonable for a man who said "people are less likely to shoot at you if you smile at them" and "In my opinion, sir, any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed."

-Hey

Thanks for the watch and the comment.

A watch comes along once every blue moon for me so I'm still surprised by it, but I'm glad you enjoy Touhou and my art, and I hope I don't disappoint.
You're welcome!

Hi~ ^__^
Sorry for the randomness, but what anime is your signature quoting?

It's not--It's a quoting a game, Cave Story.
I believe it's usually translated into English as "Huzzah!"

Eh? (・∀・;;)
Sorry, I believe my blonde hair is taking full effect. Previously, there was something about a girl named Momo, and not going to a grocery store because someone dreamt the food would eat them all? ;;;;;
Sorry! Please forgive me!

That would have been a while ago... That one was a quote from Avatar.
Momo is a guy, actually. More specifically, he's a lemur.
